Communication Starts in the Heart: Speak from a Spirit of Grace

How we speak matters—but so does the condition of our heart when we speak. Our words are shaped by the health of our spirit. Luke 6:45 (NKJV) teaches:“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Even right words spoken with the wrong spirit can cause harm. Anger, pride, or impatience can twist a true message into a damaging one. That’s why we must check our hearts before we communicate.

Let God’s Spirit govern your tone, timing, and truth. Pray before you speak. Proverbs 15:1 (NKJV) reminds us:“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Ask yourself: Is my spirit aligned with God’s? Am I speaking to heal or to hurt?Spirit-led communication brings peace, clarity, and restoration.

Speak from a surrendered spirit—and your words will carry the presence of God.
